Rep. Gallego: ‘This Is a Failing Presidency’

GALLEGO: “Well, the politics of this is that the president essentially is using the National Guard, creating this hysteria that there’s somehow a national emergency, and using our taxpayer dollars to try to booster his low poll numbers, especially with his base. The fact is, the president lost. He was not able to get his border wall. The Congress in a bipartisan manner tried to give him actually a really good deal to even have a [indecipherable] and a border wall and would have actually done a lot more than what he's going to get with the National Guard in terms of border security. But him and his advisers don’t know how to take a good deal. So they failed. And this is a failing presidency. Now they’re just lashing out and trying to do anything essentially to -- to get a life saver and survive."
