Adrienne Elrod: Obama Congratulating Putin in 2012 Not the Same as Trump’s Call
‘It’s different because first of all we didn’t see an attack on American democracy when president Obama called him’
EXCERPT:
ELROD: "Well look, it’s customary for presidents to call foreign leaders when they win re-election, that’s not unusual. But what bothers me about this in particular, is that since Obama called him we have seen a massive attack on our democracy by the Russians. That is proved. That we know is true. So for him to say congratulations, or whatever terminology he used and not follow that up with, and hey, cut it out, quit hacking into our election process, quit influencing it, that’s where I have a problem."
