During a meeting with the Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce to win support for one of his candidates, Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) attempted to win the audience with a pair of Asian jokes, as you do.

“I don’t think you’re smarter than anybody else, but you’ve convinced a lot of us you are,” Reid said, according to video captured by a Republican opposition research group.

Though the crowd laughed, they ended up supporting Mark Hutchinson, the Republican candidate for lieutenant governor. The Las Vegas Sunreports that the unusual break from the historically Democrat-leaning group had more to do with Hutchinson’s longstanding ties with Nevada’s Asian-American community. But this joke from Reid — well, it happened.
