Dick Durbin: Trump Is ‘Off to a Very Bad Start When It Comes to Credibility’

‘The testimony of James Comey yesterday was historic’

EXCERPT:
PACE: “Hi, senator. I want to switch to Russia. We have been talking about the investigations, the Senate hearings are going to be coming up soon. For Democrats what are the risks in being too forward leaning on this? Do you worry Democrats are trying to draw conclusions from what we have seen when really we have a lot of smoke, but no evidence of collusion between the Trump associates and Russia?”
DURBIN: “The testimony of James Comey yesterday was historic. He said two thing that is will be remembered for a long time. First, the president misled the American people when he said he was wiretapped by former President Obama. That is a startling revelation and I think it will go down in history and this administration is off to a bad start when it comes to credibility. But secondly and even more important is that the Federal Bureau of Investigation the number one law enforcement agency of our government believes there is credible evidence worthy of an investigation as to the involvement of Russians in the Trump campaign and their impact on the U.S. election. What we as Democrats need to do is of course call for a thorough investigation, a special prosecutor who will not be moved by politics. We’ll get to the bottom of this if any criminal charges need to be levied. All of that is a step in the right direction toward handling this responsibly.”
