Biden on Running for President: ‘Never Say Never’

‘Hell, Donald Trump is going to be 74 — I’ll be 77 in better shape — Who knows?’

RUSH EXCERPT:

COLBERT: "Well, we might find out because yesterday were you were on Capitol Hill when you were asked by a reporter, "Are you going to run for office again? Is it and you said-- and I quote, "Yeah, I am, I'm going to run in 2020." Reporter, "For what?" "For president, so, you know, what the hell man." ( Cheers and applause )
BIDEN: "Well, look, Stephen, I know, I did that for one reason. So I could announce now I'm not running and be popular again. ( Laughter ) I mean, because I learned."
COLBERT: "There's no way? You didn't mean that? What the hell, vice president?"
BIDEN: "Look, I've become-- you and I talked about this in a different context before. I'm a great respecter of fate. I don't plan on running again. But to say you know what's going to happen in four years I just think is-- is not rational. I -- "
COLBERT: "That is the sound of a door creaking open, is that what that is."
BIDEN: "Well look I mean, I can't see the circumstance in which I'd run, but what I've learned a long long, long time ago, Stephen is to never say never. You don't know what's going to happen. Hell, Donald Trump is going to be 74. I'll be 77 in better shape. Who knows?"
