The Hill political analyst A.B. Stoddard explains why President Obama feels locked in to supporting Hillary in 2016, and what it would take for him to support his beloved Vice President instead.

A.B. STODDARD: More importantly than Hillary joining [Obama's] cabinet is the fact that Bill Clinton really helped him get reelected in 2012, and there was an implicit agreement that [Hillary] would be helped in her next run for president.

And she's never stopped running for president, and everyone knows that.

So Joe Biden really got the cold shoulder from Obama.

But, if donors become panicked, if Bernie Sanders rises and starts winning contests... if he threatens her and weakens her and it becomes a big crisis in the party and people say it's time for Obama to back Biden and really, you know, shut out the Clintons, that would probably do the trick. But as of today he's always given Hillary his implicit support and let Joe Biden just sit on the sidelines.
