Joe Scarborough to Kirby: It Was Clearly Money for Hostages, Was It Not?
RUSH TRANSCRIPT:
SCARABOROUGH: "You have to stop coming on days like this. We always have such pleasant conversations, but they chum up the Watters and then they throw you in on this. Do I apologize at the beginning of this conversation or at the end?"
KIRBY: "Joe, these are the only days you invite me on."
SCARABOROUGH: "Fair enough. Okay. Come on, this was a quid pro quo, admiral. It was clearly cash for hostages, was it not?"
KIRBY: "Well, look, Joe, let me just walk through a couple of things here. First of all, this was Iran’s money. It was money they were going to get back anyway and when you negotiated with The Hague, this interest payment that was much more advantageous to the American taxpayers. To a degree there was a quid pro quo, we got a much more advantageous schedule."
