CBS News: Julian Assange Wins Right to Appeal Against Extradition to the U.S.
‘WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange can appeal his extradition to the United States’
EXCERPT:
CASCIANI: “Well, quite an extraordinary decision here at the High Court in London, where after a five-year long legal battle so far against extradition to the United States, Julian Assange's team finally have a breakthrough. They have said since day one, that he is a journalist who when, as part of the WikiLeaks organization, he disclosed U.S. military secrets he did so for the public interest to reveal what he said were war crimes, and therefore he had a free speech. First Amendment depends to the U.S. Constitution. Today, two senior judges here in London said they want to hear more about that argument.”
