Bolton: ‘Complete Fantasy’ for Trump to Say He Could End Ukraine War in 24 Hours

BOLTON: "Well, first, the idea that this war can be ended in 24 hours is just a complete fantasy. It is a part of a line of patter that Trump has that is intended to showcase what he thinks are his great negotiating skills. What it really shows to foreign leaders is that he doesn’t know what he is talking about, which simply gives them more incentive to try to take advantage of us. The only thing that Putin was waiting for during the Trump Administration was to see if, after the disastrous phone call with Ukrainian president Zelenskyy in the summer of 2019, that, in a second term, Trump would withdraw from NATO, which would have made a Russian invasion of Ukraine much less problematic. I think this is a real danger if Trump gets our nomination and is reelected. I do think he will try to withdraw from NATO, which would be a catastrophic mistake for the country."
