DeSantis: ‘Nobody Wants to Admit They Wanted to Lock Kids out of School’
TRANSCRIPT:
DeSANTIS: "And when it came time to make decisions during Covid, we had to make decisions about do you follow the crowd, do you abdicate your office to somebody like Dr. Fauci, or do you stand up to do what's right and make sure kids could be in school. We made sure, using our authority, that every school district, starting in the summer of 2020, every school had to be open for in-person instruction. So, parents in this state had the ability to send their kids to school in person. We knew it was the right thing to do. Yeah, the media was lying about it. The left was lying. Even some Republicans were very weak on it. But we did the right thing. And now nobody wants to admit that they wanted to lock kids out of school year and a half because you have seen the results. From 2020 to 2022, people have just totally vanished from some of these urban school districts across the country. Chicago, 25,000 fewer students than 2020. Los Angeles, 43,000 fewer students than in 2020. New York, 50,000 fewer student than in 2020. In Florida, our school enrollment is up and our home school numbers are up."
