Robin Wright: Trump’s ‘Thrown a Diplomatic Bomb into the Middle East Peace Process’

‘He’s thrown a diplomatic bomb into the Middle East peace process.’

WRIGHT: "This is a fissure at a time that the Arab world was the one part of the world that actually liked President Trump and thought he was committed to dealing with them and to bring peace. There was tremendous optimism in the region. And this is a moment that kind of undermines that when the President could have said, 'Look, we look forward to opening an embassy in west Jerusalem for Israel, and someday if there is a two-state solution,' which he did support, 'opening an embassy in east Jerusalem for the Palestinians.' That would have nurtured the peace process. What he has done is he's thrown a diplomatic bomb into the Middle East peace process."
