░░░░░░░░ so much like your ░░░░░░░░ KRAUTHAMMER I get that ░░░░░░░░ lot yeah EARHARDT How ░░░░░░░░ your family KRAUTHAMMER We ░░░░░░░░ doing okay It is ░░░░░░░░ But we re getting ░░░░░░░░ and being able to ░░░░░░░░ this book for him ░░░░░░░░ have the world see ░░░░░░░░ means a lot to ░░░░░░░░ KILMEADE How close was ░░░░░░░░ to being finished when ░░░░░░░░ took on the project ░░░░░░░░ He was pretty far ░░░░░░░░ He had put together ░░░░░░░░ of the articles and ░░░░░░░░ and essays that are ░░░░░░░░ the book now Set ░░░░░░░░ others for some consideration ░░░░░░░░ at the direction of ░░░░░░░░ that I knew kind ░░░░░░░░ where he was going ░░░░░░░░ there was still a ░░░░░░░░ of work to be ░░░░░░░░ Last year when he ░░░░░░░░ sick I was able ░░░░░░░░ set things up in ░░░░░░░░ hospital so he could ░░░░░░░░ on it continue putting ░░░░░░░░ together So I got ░░░░░░░░ sense through that of ░░░░░░░░ he wanted to do ░░░░░░░░ when the final prognosis ░░░░░░░░ he entrusted it to ░░░░░░░░ he told me wanted ░░░░░░░░ to finish it DOOCY ░░░░░░░░ you finished the project ░░░░░░░░ along the way he ░░░░░░░░ it Started it going ░░░░░░░░ as you were finishing ░░░░░░░░ up as you think ░░░░░░░░ know my ░░░░░░░░ the sinews between pieces ░░░░░░░░ would link them all ░░░░░░░░ When he wrote his ░░░░░░░░ first book things that ░░░░░░░░ I talked to him ░░░░░░░░ that and wrote to ░░░░░░░░ about that and I ░░░░░░░░ he felt that I ░░░░░░░░ got it in a ░░░░░░░░ sometimes even missed that ░░░░░░░░ me some confidence KILMEADE ░░░░░░░░ share the story how ░░░░░░░░ email after you read ░░░░░░░░ book helped him with ░░░░░░░░ he was getting in ░░░░░░░░ KRAUTHAMMER This is actually ░░░░░░░░ the book some parts ░░░░░░░░ write in the introduction ░░░░░░░░ ending when I read ░░░░░░░░ first book things that ░░░░░░░░ I wrote him a ░░░░░░░░ email I sat down ░░░░░░░░ wrote for three hours ░░░░░░░░ him why I thought ░░░░░░░░ was such an impressive ░░░░░░░░ wrote back and said ░░░░░░░░ I m kicking myself ░░░░░░░░ weeks doing all the ░░░░░░░░ like with you guys ░░░░░░░░ I get the question ░░░░░░░░ is the book about ░░░░░░░░ m not oy sure ░░░░░░░░ to answer and you ░░░░░░░░ it I laid it ░░░░░░░░ I thought that he ░░░░░░░░ that very clearly in ░░░░░░░░ introduction I think sometimes ░░░░░░░░ takes someone from the ░░░░░░░░ looking in at it ░░░░░░░░ What did he say ░░░░░░░░ was it about What ░░░░░░░░ you say KRAUTHAMMER That ░░░░░░░░ in the end depends ░░░░░░░░ politics I think they ░░░░░░░░ all things beautiful and ░░░░░░░░ all things high that ░░░░░░░░ for and give purpose ░░░░░░░░ life all ░░░░░░░░ your perspective KRAUTHAMMER That ░░░░░░░░ a tough question It ░░░░░░░░ right off of that ░░░░░░░░ For him the point ░░░░░░░░ it all in life ░░░░░░░░ to find your own ░░░░░░░░ and your purpose things ░░░░░░░░ give you as an ░░░░░░░░ a sense yourself There ░░░░░░░░ so much in the ░░░░░░░░ that is very personal ░░░░░░░░ is about his passions ░░░░░░░░ baseball to chess space ░░░░░░░░ fatherhood his friendships But ░░░░░░░░ other large part of ░░░░░░░░ book is politics That ░░░░░░░░ the point of his ░░░░░░░░ life his career And ░░░░░░░░ think in his view ░░░░░░░░ felt that what we ░░░░░░░░ to do in our ░░░░░░░░ build our politics such ░░░░░░░░ we can all pursue ░░░░░░░░ own meaning and purpose ░░░░░░░░ that structure of freedom ░░░░░░░░ Sure Your father a ░░░░░░░░ for a very long ░░░░░░░░ told a lot of ░░░░░░░░ Through the years we ░░░░░░░░ t heard a lot ░░░░░░░░ you and your mom ░░░░░░░░ protected you He kept ░░░░░░░░ insulated from the scary ░░░░░░░░ out there What do ░░░░░░░░ not know about your ░░░░░░░░ KRAUTHAMMER I think I ░░░░░░░░ he was a wonderful ░░░░░░░░ in so many ways ░░░░░░░░ I think it does ░░░░░░░░ through a lot I ░░░░░░░░ in his writing and ░░░░░░░░ TV his wit his ░░░░░░░░ his wry sense of ░░░░░░░░ and humor But I ░░░░░░░░ he didn t wear ░░░░░░░░ emotions on his sleeve ░░░░░░░░ lot and so I ░░░░░░░░ one of the things ░░░░░░░░ of the reasons I ░░░░░░░░ to put a lot ░░░░░░░░ these more personal sections ░░░░░░░░ the book was that ░░░░░░░░ that he is gone ░░░░░░░░ felt I really wanted ░░░░░░░░ world to know this ░░░░░░░░ wonderful deeply good part ░░░░░░░░ him Because I know ░░░░░░░░ he really touched a ░░░░░░░░ of people s lives ░░░░░░░░ a way that I ░░░░░░░░ didn t even know ░░░░░░░░ until these last months ░░░░░░░░ people would come forward ░░░░░░░░ talk to me I ░░░░░░░░ felt not just for ░░░░░░░░ but for everyone else ░░░░░░░░ wanted to know more ░░░░░░░░ this would be a ░░░░░░░░ thing to do KILMEADE ░░░░░░░░ the things that just ░░░░░░░░ out a lot and ░░░░░░░░ I enjoyed hearing him ░░░░░░░░ he enjoyed talking One ░░░░░░░░ our favorite things when ░░░░░░░░ was young we go ░░░░░░░░ car trips Visit my ░░░░░░░░ go skiing what have ░░░░░░░░ we would listen to ░░░░░░░░ on tape when there ░░░░░░░░ actually tapes It was ░░░░░░░░ favorite thing Usually history ░░░░░░░░ for political philosophy political ░░░░░░░░ he ran out of ░░░░░░░░ he would talk to ░░░░░░░░ I will talk about ░░░░░░░░ Constitution There is three ░░░░░░░░ You know history of ░░░░░░░░ Jews part one and ░░░░░░░░ I think a lot ░░░░░░░░ the kind of
