Rep. Cicilline to Strzok: I Want to Apologize to You for the Way You’ve Been Treated by This Committee

RUSH TRANSCRIPT CICILLINE Mr ░░░░░░░░ I look forward to ░░░░░░░░ couple of extra minutes ░░░░░░░░ each of my Republican ░░░░░░░░ have had Mr Strzok ░░░░░░░░ on this committee representing ░░░░░░░░ state of Rhode Island ░░░░░░░░ been one of the ░░░░░░░░ honors of my life ░░░░░░░░ the conduct of this ░░░░░░░░ today has been for ░░░░░░░░ tremendously sad embarrassing and ░░░░░░░░ dangerous to our democracy ░░░░░░░░ want to apologize to ░░░░░░░░ for the way you ░░░░░░░░ been treated by this ░░░░░░░░ And for the American ░░░░░░░░ watching you ought not ░░░░░░░░ why they ve lost ░░░░░░░░ in Congress and are ░░░░░░░░ of the kind of ░░░░░░░░ they saw being conducted ░░░░░░░░ this room today Because ░░░░░░░░ than focusing on urgent ░░░░░░░░ like family separation reasonable ░░░░░░░░ to reduce gun violence ░░░░░░░░ our communities considering legislation ░░░░░░░░ reform our broken immigration ░░░░░░░░ passing legislation to reduce ░░░░░░░░ cost of prescription drugs ░░░░░░░░ the inability of Americans ░░░░░░░░ fall behind in their ░░░░░░░░ loans to discharge that ░░░░░░░░ in bankruptcy or oversight ░░░░░░░░ the many conflicts of ░░░░░░░░ and corruption in this ░░░░░░░░ we re having yet ░░░░░░░░ hearing on the Hillary ░░░░░░░░ e mails What you ░░░░░░░░ understand Mr Strzok the ░░░░░░░░ my Republican colleagues will ░░░░░░░░ let you answer a ░░░░░░░░ is because they re ░░░░░░░░ interested in your answers ░░░░░░░░ is about promoting a ░░░░░░░░ You re a prop ░░░░░░░░ they promote a narrative ░░░░░░░░ an ongoing effort to ░░░░░░░░ from the serious investigation ░░░░░░░░ the special counsel that ░░░░░░░░ closing in on the ░░░░░░░░ inner circle This is ░░░░░░░░ campaign to undermine that ░░░░░░░░ And sadly they ll ░░░░░░░░ whatever is necessary to ░░░░░░░░ it in concert with ░░░░░░░░ President Attack the F ░░░░░░░░ I attack the Department ░░░░░░░░ Justice undermine the rule ░░░░░░░░ law And so your ░░░░░░░░ mails are a perfect ░░░░░░░░ for this effort They ░░░░░░░░ not interested in hearing ░░░░░░░░ context or your explanation ░░░░░░░░ it s not about ░░░░░░░░ It s about protecting ░░░░░░░░ President My colleagues have ░░░░░░░░ more like they re ░░░░░░░░ the defense team for ░░░░░░░░ Trump than exercising their ░░░░░░░░ serious oversight responsibilities as ░░░░░░░░ of these two committees ░░░░░░░░ Mueller was praised to ░░░░░░░░ heavens by everyone Republican ░░░░░░░░ Democrat alike when he ░░░░░░░░ appointed Now he s ░░░░░░░░ villain What s the ░░░░░░░░ thing that s changed ░░░░░░░░ indictments 5 guilty pleas ░░░░░░░░ the circle is closing ░░░░░░░░ So I accept your ░░░░░░░░ testimony about the difference ░░░░░░░░ bias and the actions ░░░░░░░░ took We don t ░░░░░░░░ to take your word ░░░░░░░░ it alone although I ░░░░░░░░ The I G report ░░░░░░░░ 500 pages interviews review ░░░░░░░░ documents comes to the ░░░░░░░░ conclusions We find the ░░░░░░░░ made were consistent with ░░░░░░░░ approach described above We ░░░░░░░░ that these specific decisions ░░░░░░░░ the result of discretionary ░░░░░░░░ made during the course ░░░░░░░░ the investigation and that ░░░░░░░░ judgments were all reasonable ░░░░░░░░ it s there s ░░░░░░░░ big analysis that was ░░░░░░░░ 500 pages That s ░░░░░░░░ same conclusion the same ░░░░░░░░ you made today.”
