SCARBOROUGH That is the ░░░░░░░░ isn t it That ░░░░░░░░ the point for them ░░░░░░░░ they want you to ░░░░░░░░ that if you hit ░░░░░░░░ they re going to ░░░░░░░░ you back twice as ░░░░░░░░ But Jon Meacham this ░░░░░░░░ idea of and you ░░░░░░░░ starting to hear it ░░░░░░░░ people around President Trump ░░░░░░░░ Musk what who s ░░░░░░░░ what s that Like ░░░░░░░░ Come on What do ░░░░░░░░ oh this is just ░░░░░░░░ media creation A media ░░░░░░░░ that has a chainsaw ░░░░░░░░ it s like shutting ░░░░░░░░ entire agencies at a ░░░░░░░░ seizing information that he ░░░░░░░░ doesn t have the ░░░░░░░░ to seize getting Americans ░░░░░░░░ private financial situation going ░░░░░░░░ the IRS going into ░░░░░░░░ going all over you ░░░░░░░░ shutting down USAID shutting ░░░░░░░░ you know these programs ░░░░░░░░ have given the United ░░░░░░░░ extraordinary soft power over ░░░░░░░░ past 50 years You ░░░░░░░░ t do that and ░░░░░░░░ Elon Musk as a ░░░░░░░░ shield against President Trump ░░░░░░░░ then go Elon Musk ░░░░░░░░ come on the media ░░░░░░░░ re just making him ░░░░░░░░ s got no power ░░░░░░░░ s not the president ░░░░░░░░ Yeah Yeah And it ░░░░░░░░ part of it is ░░░░░░░░ ability to do this ░░░░░░░░ the climate in which ░░░░░░░░ live where I don ░░░░░░░░ love this phrase but ░░░░░░░░ gaslighting has become a ░░░░░░░░ political trope And so ░░░░░░░░ we ve learned in ░░░░░░░░ last 10 years and ░░░░░░░░ s been a decade ░░░░░░░░ right since 2015 is ░░░░░░░░ if you say something ░░░░░░░░ enough and often enough ░░░░░░░░ sufficient number of people ░░░░░░░░ everybody but a dispositive ░░░░░░░░ of people in Trump ░░░░░░░░ believe it And so ░░░░░░░░ me throughout the question ░░░░░░░░ been at what point ░░░░░░░░ the economic side of ░░░░░░░░ make people say You ░░░░░░░░ what Maybe I m ░░░░░░░░ going to believe everything ░░░░░░░░ s said simply because ░░░░░░░░ the person who is ░░░░░░░░ it And I think ░░░░░░░░ s it right We ░░░░░░░░ about this The courts ░░░░░░░░ judges would be one ░░░░░░░░ the lines of defense ░░░░░░░░ a constitutionally chaotic time ░░░░░░░░ military might be The ░░░░░░░░ is hugely important here ░░░░░░░░ I don t think ░░░░░░░░ know as George W ░░░░░░░░ would say I don ░░░░░░░░ think we should misunderestimate ░░░░░░░░ power of this to ░░░░░░░░ off the enabling support ░░░░░░░░ m not talking about ░░░░░░░░ MAGA base of folks ░░░░░░░░ in a very rough ░░░░░░░░ I think is about ░░░░░░░░ of that number But ░░░░░░░░ 15 that we all ░░░░░░░░ and could probably name ░░░░░░░░ lot of them who ░░░░░░░░ twice and maybe three ░░░░░░░░ voted for President Trump ░░░░░░░░ their interests began to ░░░░░░░░ from what the president ░░░░░░░░ actually doing that s ░░░░░░░░ fascinating question Now the ░░░░░░░░ part is what s ░░░░░░░░ incentive for President Trump ░░░░░░░░ change course Because unless ░░░░░░░░ s a radical radical ░░░░░░░░ crisis he doesn t ░░░░░░░░ to face the voters ░░░░░░░░ And so a critical ░░░░░░░░ to me is what ░░░░░░░░ Donald Trump s incentive ░░░░░░░░ forward Lincoln told us ░░░░░░░░ all men act on ░░░░░░░░ He doesn t have ░░░░░░░░ go back to the ░░░░░░░░ So how does he ░░░░░░░░ success How does he ░░░░░░░░ it And on that ░░░░░░░░ those two questions hangs ░░░░░░░░ huge amount of wealth ░░░░░░░░ security, stability.”
