Rep. Tlaib Screams at Health Care Rally: Fund Care, Not Billionaires!

Tlaib Hello everyone So ░░░░░░░░ m the proud founder ░░░░░░░░ the Congressional Mamas Caucus ░░░░░░░░ I know with Medicaid ░░░░░░░░ means life or death ░░░░░░░░ mothers giving birth We ░░░░░░░░ that for many many ░░░░░░░░ our children from the ░░░░░░░░ care to the post ░░░░░░░░ care is incredibly important ░░░░░░░░ here we are where ░░░░░░░░ want to ram through ░░░░░░░░ millions but 4 5 ░░░░░░░░ in tax cuts for ░░░░░░░░ and powerful corporations Audience ░░░░░░░░ You know corporate greed ░░░░░░░░ It is a disease ░░░░░░░░ our country It is ░░░░░░░░ to me that they ░░░░░░░░ to put profits before ░░░░░░░░ And in order to ░░░░░░░░ for these tax breaks ░░░░░░░░ are basically giving away ░░░░░░░░ money They want to ░░░░░░░░ health care away from ░░░░░░░░ of our families It ░░░░░░░░ shameful You know I ░░░░░░░░ colleagues who say this ░░░░░░░░ proposal doesn t have ░░░░░░░░ word Medicaid in it ░░░░░░░░ okay we ain t ░░░░░░░░ We understand what nearly ░░░░░░░░ trillion out of Energy ░░░░░░░░ Commerce Committee really means ░░░░░░░░ lying to the American ░░░░░░░░ Some of you have ░░░░░░░░ 50 even some over ░░░░░░░░ of folks that depend ░░░░░░░░ Medicaid So when we ░░░░░░░░ fund care not billionaires ░░░░░░░░ mean it You know ░░░░░░░░ know nearly 80 million ░░░░░░░░ around the country that ░░░░░░░░ on Medicaid and CHIP ░░░░░░░░ health services I know ░░░░░░░░ many of our working ░░░░░░░░ have been working so ░░░░░░░░ to combat black maternal ░░░░░░░░ infant mortality in our ░░░░░░░░ I mean it s ░░░░░░░░ we get a foot ░░░░░░░░ and they pull back ░░░░░░░░ those that rely on ░░░░░░░░ you all know it ░░░░░░░░ not just a service ░░░░░░░░ coverage It is the ░░░░░░░░ between life and death ░░░░░░░░ right now we all ░░░░░░░░ the future of our ░░░░░░░░ system is under threat ░░░░░░░░ know that under the ░░░░░░░░ budget more than 250 ░░░░░░░░ people alone in my ░░░░░░░░ will be risking that ░░░░░░░░ care coverage they need ░░░░░░░░ know they act like ░░░░░░░░ plan to get sick ░░░░░░░░ they act like we ░░░░░░░░ just sitting around here ░░░░░░░░ re like sponging off ░░░░░░░░ m like what are ░░░░░░░░ talking about Who likes ░░░░░░░░ go to the doctor ░░░░░░░░ know what I mean ░░░░░░░░ we have sick care ░░░░░░░░ our country not health ░░░░░░░░ They don t have ░░░░░░░░ courage to take on ░░░░░░░░ pharma and the health ░░░░░░░░ industry that literally feeds ░░░░░░░░ profit and greed But ░░░░░░░░ we are Here we ░░░░░░░░ Here we are them ░░░░░░░░ us like we are ░░░░░░░░ numbers These folks are ░░░░░░░░ neighbors they re our ░░░░░░░░ they re our families ░░░░░░░░ you ever talked to ░░░░░░░░ father that lost the ░░░░░░░░ of his children giving ░░░░░░░░ Have you ever talked ░░░░░░░░ a person that continues ░░░░░░░░ say Even the Medicaid ░░░░░░░░ now is not even ░░░░░░░░ my prescription drugs And ░░░░░░░░ want to just take ░░░░░░░░ bare minimum that they ░░░░░░░░ even giving to my ░░░░░░░░ It is shameful Now ░░░░░░░░ is where I get ░░░░░░░░ I m the eldest ░░░░░░░░ 14 I have been ░░░░░░░░ care of people all ░░░░░░░░ life And when I ░░░░░░░░ of the babies the ░░░░░░░░ it s unbelievable that ░░░░░░░░ would literally sit here ░░░░░░░░ think that giving this ░░░░░░░░ 5 trillion to these ░░░░░░░░ while leaving our children ░░░░░░░░ there some of them ░░░░░░░░ unhoused so vulnerable you ░░░░░░░░ they act like it ░░░░░░░░ so easy to get ░░░░░░░░ care in our country ░░░░░░░░ is worse than hard ░░░░░░░░ is unbelievably immoral and ░░░░░░░░ our system here And ░░░░░░░░ they are trying to ░░░░░░░░ billionaires not care Now ░░░░░░░░ want you to make ░░░░░░░░ mistake This is an ░░░░░░░░ issue I can tell ░░░░░░░░ every corner every congressional ░░░░░░░░ has folks right now ░░░░░░░░ are on Medicaid that ░░░░░░░░ be hurt Even a ░░░░░░░░ cut do you understand ░░░░░░░░ a minor change is ░░░░░░░░ to again a matter ░░░░░░░░ life and death I ░░░░░░░░ already seen it where ░░░░░░░░ cannot afford their prescription ░░░░░░░░ rationing A mother coming ░░░░░░░░ our committee twins rationing ░░░░░░░░ the insulin losing one ░░░░░░░░ her children at six ░░░░░░░░ old How does a ░░░░░░░░ live after that But ░░░░░░░░ do their best You ░░░░░░░░ this Many many tell ░░░░░░░░ I m doing my ░░░░░░░░ And here they are ░░░░░░░░ the billionaires and the ░░░░░░░░ before the people that ░░░░░░░░ are supposed to represent ░░░░░░░░ must continue to raise ░░░░░░░░ voices I remind people ░░░░░░░░ know I come from ░░░░░░░░ most beautiful blackest city ░░░░░░░░ the country the city ░░░░░░░░ Detroit Every corner I ░░░░░░░░ you not if you ░░░░░░░░ down come to my ░░░░░░░░ you will leave wanting ░░░░░░░░ just come up here ░░░░░░░░ so much strength Every ░░░░░░░░ of my district is ░░░░░░░░ reminder of this That ░░░░░░░░ it does not move ░░░░░░░░ you make ░░░░░░░░ think the right to ░░░░░░░░ unions came from the ░░░░░░░░ House or Congress No ░░░░░░░░ s when people inaudible ░░░░░░░░ It s when we ░░░░░░░░ that change and that ░░░░░░░░ People were dying and ░░░░░░░░ still do at work ░░░░░░░░ wanted human dignity and ░░░░░░░░ was the people that ░░░░░░░░ in the streets We ░░░░░░░░ up with our bullhorns ░░░░░░░░ our voices with our ░░░░░░░░ lived experiences and we ░░░░░░░░ them accountable We did ░░░░░░░░ disappear We didn t ░░░░░░░░ down We were unapologetically ░░░░░░░░ truth to power There ░░░░░░░░ a reason that a ░░░░░░░░ of my colleagues don ░░░░░░░░ want to have live ░░░░░░░░ do they call it ░░░░░░░░ halls Yeah I know ░░░░░░░░ know The thing is ░░░░░░░░ all have offices that ░░░░░░░░ take meetings They all ░░░░░░░░ hospitals clinics centers So ░░░░░░░░ of them have seasoned ░░░░░░░░ in the community They ░░░░░░░░ to raise their voices ░░░░░░░░ speak up about what ░░░░░░░░ really will mean to ░░░░░░░░ community It is devastating ░░░░░░░░ some people are thinking ░░░░░░░░ know what just let ░░░░░░░░ happen and see what ░░░░░░░░ I said No I ░░░░░░░░ t want anybody to ░░░░░░░░ So we are going ░░░░░░░░ fight to save lives ░░░░░░░░ are going to fight ░░░░░░░░ the corporations We are ░░░░░░░░ to fight against corporate ░░░░░░░░ Because guess what They ░░░░░░░░ underestimating the people here ░░░░░░░░ are underestimating how much ░░░░░░░░ love our communities and ░░░░░░░░ our neighbors Because hell ░░░░░░░░ they won t do ░░░░░░░░ we will take care ░░░░░░░░ the sick We will ░░░░░░░░ care of our children ░░░░░░░░ know
