Gov. Wes Moore: ‘California Is Going to Need Help and Support To Be Able to Get Back on Its Feet’

TAPPER Joining me now ░░░░░░░░ someone who knows the ░░░░░░░░ for federal assistance after ░░░░░░░░ a disaster the Democratic ░░░░░░░░ of Maryland Wes Moore ░░░░░░░░ faced the tragic collapse ░░░░░░░░ the Baltimore Key Bridge ░░░░░░░░ the damage it did ░░░░░░░░ his local economy And ░░░░░░░░ while obviously a bridge ░░░░░░░░ however tragic is not ░░░░░░░░ same as the fires ░░░░░░░░ we re seeing in ░░░░░░░░ California there is a ░░░░░░░░ which is federal assistance ░░░░░░░░ a listen to what ░░░░░░░░ of the House Mike ░░░░░░░░ had to say to ░░░░░░░░ own Manu Raju when ░░░░░░░░ came to aid for ░░░░░░░░ Take a listen Clip ░░░░░░░░ Johnson It appears to ░░░░░░░░ that state and local ░░░░░░░░ were derelict in their ░░░░░░░░ and in many respects ░░░░░░░░ that s something that ░░░░░░░░ to be factored in ░░░░░░░░ think there should probably ░░░░░░░░ conditions on that aid ░░░░░░░░ ends TAPPER What do ░░░░░░░░ do you make of ░░░░░░░░ of the federal government ░░░░░░░░ conditions to aid at ░░░░░░░░ time of crisis MOORE ░░░░░░░░ well I mean first ░░░░░░░░ I d say I ░░░░░░░░ our hearts still go ░░░░░░░░ to the people of ░░░░░░░░ Because they have they ░░░░░░░░ just gone through just ░░░░░░░░ absolutely horrific experience And ░░░░░░░░ many of them this ░░░░░░░░ going to be a ░░░░░░░░ standing experience for them ░░░░░░░░ I think that the ░░░░░░░░ and most important thing ░░░░░░░░ to center on the ░░░░░░░░ the people that they ░░░░░░░░ I know we did ░░░░░░░░ same thing with the ░░░░░░░░ individuals that we lost ░░░░░░░░ know in the state ░░░░░░░░ Maryland But I also ░░░░░░░░ that it is in ░░░░░░░░ like this and in ░░░░░░░░ of need that people ░░░░░░░░ to their government at ░░░░░░░░ levels to be able ░░░░░░░░ remember them to be ░░░░░░░░ to support them And ░░░░░░░░ be able to help ░░░░░░░░ to rebuild And I ░░░░░░░░ think in these kind ░░░░░░░░ moments it s incredibly ░░░░░░░░ for all of us ░░░░░░░░ remember the unified family ░░░░░░░░ we find ourselves in ░░░░░░░░ California is going to ░░░░░░░░ help and support to ░░░░░░░░ able to get back ░░░░░░░░ its feet And I ░░░░░░░░ hope that Congress as ░░░░░░░░ re going through this ░░░░░░░░ and through their own ░░░░░░░░ deliberations about what that ░░░░░░░░ like for reimbursement that ░░░░░░░░ don t forget the ░░░░░░░░ not just of the ░░░░░░░░ that we lost but ░░░░░░░░ for the Californians who ░░░░░░░░ need help and support ░░░░░░░░ this moment.”
