[Music Welcome to our ░░░░░░░░ on 5 I m ░░░░░░░░ today by Republican gubernatorial ░░░░░░░░ Stan Pulliam stan thanks ░░░░░░░░ taking the time thank ░░░░░░░░ for having me so ░░░░░░░░ is a very crowded ░░░░░░░░ of Republicans seeking the ░░░░░░░░ s nomination in two ░░░░░░░░ what makes you different ░░░░░░░░ your competitors well one ░░░░░░░░ think as an elected ░░░░░░░░ you know I think ░░░░░░░░ have had the opportunity ░░░░░░░░ see how I would ░░░░░░░░ when tested and I ░░░░░░░░ over as mayor we ░░░░░░░░ nearly a million dollars ░░░░░░░░ debt in our police ░░░░░░░░ not only do we ░░░░░░░░ hard budget decisions and ░░░░░░░░ that gap we have ░░░░░░░░ we now have more ░░░░░░░░ on the street than ░░░░░░░░ we began in fact ░░░░░░░░ I swore in an ░░░░░░░░ a couple of weeks ░░░░░░░░ we became one of ░░░░░░░░ only fully staffed department ░░░░░░░░ the state you think ░░░░░░░░ what we need to ░░░░░░░░ in Portland what we ░░░░░░░░ to do in the ░░░░░░░░ as far as hiring ░░░░░░░░ I m the kind ░░░░░░░░ leader that knows how ░░░░░░░░ do that I ve ░░░░░░░░ seen an opportunity to ░░░░░░░░ how I lead in ░░░░░░░░ middle of the shutdown ░░░░░░░░ up for our main ░░░░░░░░ small businesses and sandy ░░░░░░░░ the side by side ░░░░░░░░ my wife MacKenzie and ░░░░░░░░ organization the Oregon moms ░░░░░░░░ to get kids back ░░░░░░░░ school and now that ░░░░░░░░ re there to get ░░░░░░░░ schools better and the ░░░░░░░░ better so people people ░░░░░░░░ how I lead and ░░░░░░░░ I am and where ░░░░░░░░ m at on these ░░░░░░░░ issues it is a ░░░░░░░░ jump from clackamas county ░░░░░░░░ Oregon clackamas county to ░░░░░░░░ the governor of Oregon ░░░░░░░░ how do you prove ░░░░░░░░ the experience you have ░░░░░░░░ enough to to take ░░░░░░░░ over the top to ░░░░░░░░ well one thing I ░░░░░░░░ to say you know ░░░░░░░░ mayor Pete from south ░░░░░░░░ Indiana can run for ░░░░░░░░ of the United States ░░░░░░░░ better believe that mayor ░░░░░░░░ can run you know ░░░░░░░░ the governor of Oregon ░░░░░░░░ you look at my ░░░░░░░░ the fact that I ░░░░░░░░ served through two legislative ░░░░░░░░ on the staff side ░░░░░░░░ a legislative director I ░░░░░░░░ know how it comes ░░░░░░░░ at the state level ░░░░░░░░ as mayor I also ░░░░░░░░ you know experience on ░░░░░░░░ ground how local government ░░░░░░░░ have responsibilities you know ░░░░░░░░ charge of our police ░░░░░░░░ infrastructure projects tourism you ░░░░░░░░ major projects we run ░░░░░░░░ city we have real ░░░░░░░░ we ve also have ░░░░░░░░ in regional government you ░░░░░░░░ through my capacity as ░░░░░░░░ and so I think ░░░░░░░░ m actually the only ░░░░░░░░ in this race with ░░░░░░░░ experience at all the ░░░░░░░░ of government and and ░░░░░░░░ be able to stand ░░░░░░░░ and really lead the ░░░░░░░░ the Supreme Court decision ░░░░░░░░ potentially overturn rover v ░░░░░░░░ has been in the ░░░░░░░░ today are you pro ░░░░░░░░ or pro life and ░░░░░░░░ governor how would that ░░░░░░░░ your style of governing ░░░░░░░░ I m strongly pro ░░░░░░░░ you know and I ░░░░░░░░ among you know several ░░░░░░░░ us who have been ░░░░░░░░ you know our entire ░░░░░░░░ for Roe vs Wade ░░░░░░░░ get overturned I ve ░░░░░░░░ very solid on where ░░░░░░░░ m at on that ░░░░░░░░ I m pro life ░░░░░░░░ would sign any piece ░░░░░░░░ pro life legislation you ░░░░░░░░ that comes across my ░░░░░░░░ and I m so ░░░░░░░░ that you asked this ░░░░░░░░ you know we jud ░░░░░░░░ ve had a couple ░░░░░░░░ debates now uh people ░░░░░░░░ had the opportunity to ░░░░░░░░ how other candidates answer ░░░░░░░░ questions and they re ░░░░░░░░ down they re saying ░░░░░░░░ re not going to ░░░░░░░░ anything about it and ░░░░░░░░ fact Christine drazen just ░░░░░░░░ week ago at a ░░░░░░░░ you know said that ░░░░░░░░ would only sign legislation ░░░░░░░░ didn t expand abortion ░░░░░░░░ as if you know ░░░░░░░░ can have an abortion ░░░░░░░░ payer funded in this ░░░░░░░░ literally from conception all ░░░░░░░░ way to burst I ░░░░░░░░ t know what she ░░░░░░░░ talking about we are ░░░░░░░░ the strongest pro life ░░░░░░░░ in this race and ░░░░░░░░ re proud of that ░░░░░░░░ we re going to ░░░░░░░░ a quick commercial break ░░░░░░░░ ll have much more ░░░░░░░░ just a moment stay ░░░░░░░░ us welcome back to ░░░░░░░░ five on 5 again ░░░░░░░░ re here with Republican ░░░░░░░░ candidate Stan Pulliam homelessness ░░░░░░░░ a problem in southern ░░░░░░░░ as it is in ░░░░░░░░ of the state stand ░░░░░░░░ would you fix this ░░░░░░░░ if elected governor you ░░░░░░░░ I know you re ░░░░░░░░ asking all the candidates ░░░░░░░░ and so your viewers ░░░░░░░░ the same answers right ░░░░░░░░ won t wrap around ░░░░░░░░ health services they want ░░░░░░░░ prevention and of course ░░░░░░░░ need all those things ░░░░░░░░ I m the only ░░░░░░░░ in this array in ░░░░░░░░ race that s addressing ░░░░░░░░ criminal element living on ░░░░░░░░ streets you know in ░░░░░░░░ 1970s we had 30 ░░░░░░░░ per 100 000 people ░░░░░░░░ number today is eight ░░░░░░░░ want to triple the ░░░░░░░░ of the state police ░░░░░░░░ want to use the ░░░░░░░░ Guard as resources to ░░░░░░░░ onto the front lines ░░░░░░░░ we re going to ░░░░░░░░ a tough approach to ░░░░░░░░ when people break our ░░░░░░░░ there needs to be ░░░░░░░░ to that and Oregon ░░░░░░░░ to not be a ░░░░░░░░ that thinks that it ░░░░░░░░ just somehow more compassion ░░░░░░░░ people to live on ░░░░░░░░ streets using open drug ░░░░░░░░ than actually show compassionate ░░░░░░░░ southern Oregon law enforcement ░░░░░░░░ becoming increasingly concerned about ░░░░░░░░ marijuana down here if ░░░░░░░░ how would you fix ░░░░░░░░ that s a big ░░░░░░░░ why I talk about ░░░░░░░░ the size of the ░░░░░░░░ police you know we ░░░░░░░░ resources we also need ░░░░░░░░ provide resources to our ░░░░░░░░ sheriff and local police ░░░░░░░░ to combat this we ░░░░░░░░ to also we need ░░░░░░░░ look at overturning the ░░░░░░░░ of hard drugs which ░░░░░░░░ created a lot more ░░░░░░░░ gang activity and folks ░░░░░░░░ into our state to ░░░░░░░░ the vacuum created you ░░░░░░░░ with with that legislation ░░░░░░░░ with the initiative that ░░░░░░░░ up getting through um ░░░░░░░░ yeah we need its ░░░░░░░░ secure our border we ░░░░░░░░ to provide more resources ░░░░░░░░ local government so we ░░░░░░░░ to stand up against ░░░░░░░░ illegal trade what would ░░░░░░░░ do as governor to ░░░░░░░░ southern Oregon summers aren ░░░░░░░░ smoked out for dozens ░░░░░░░░ days each year well ░░░░░░░░ got a manager for ░░░░░░░░ you know you talk ░░░░░░░░ everything being smoked out ░░░░░░░░ should provide us with ░░░░░░░░ opportunity obviously what we ░░░░░░░░ doing isn t working ░░░░░░░░ so we need to ░░░░░░░░ our friendly neighbor laws ░░░░░░░░ team up with the ░░░░░░░░ government to manage their ░░░░░░░░ their land for them ░░░░░░░░ can fund that kind ░░░░░░░░ activity through this future ░░░░░░░░ of timber cells we ░░░░░░░░ need to look at ░░░░░░░░ laminated timber you know ░░░░░░░░ re using timber products ░░░░░░░░ to build some of ░░░░░░░░ biggest skyscrapers in this ░░░░░░░░ we can create good ░░░░░░░░ wage you know urban ░░░░░░░░ jobs but source the ░░░░░░░░ from rural Oregon and ░░░░░░░░ family waste jobs to ░░░░░░░░ folks as well that ░░░░░░░░ how we bridge this ░░░░░░░░ world divide and fix ░░░░░░░░ forest fires I do ░░░░░░░░ to ask you this ░░░░░░░░ your first run at ░░░░░░░░ office some of the ░░░░░░░░ about you have gotten ░░░░░░░░ personal was that a ░░░░░░░░ to you well you ░░░░░░░░ nothing in politics comes ░░░░░░░░ a surprise I certainly ░░░░░░░░ t think oregonians care ░░░░░░░░ issues that you know ░░░░░░░░ my consensual personal life ░░░░░░░░ know with my wife ░░░░░░░░ think what they care ░░░░░░░░ is the fact that ░░░░░░░░ of my children go ░░░░░░░░ some of the worst ░░░░░░░░ in this country we ░░░░░░░░ homelessness that s infesting ░░░░░░░░ corner of the state ░░░░░░░░ crime that s skyrocketing ░░░░░░░░ people were murdered in ░░░░░░░░ city of Portland any ░░░░░░░░ time in our state ░░░░░░░░ history in the last ░░░░░░░░ already on track to ░░░░░░░░ that number those are ░░░░░░░░ issues that people care ░░░░░░░░ those are the issues ░░░░░░░░ talk about thank you ░░░░░░░░
