from health ░░░░░░░░ when it comes to ░░░░░░░░ falling number of Covid ░░░░░░░░ and hospitalizations and deaths ░░░░░░░░ still up health care ░░░░░░░░ are still on the ░░░░░░░░ lines this have pandemic ░░░░░░░░ now we re going ░░░░░░░░ year three A lot ░░░░░░░░ us feel exhausted imagine ░░░░░░░░ Our next guest is ░░░░░░░░ gazall a board certified ░░░░░░░░ nurse practitioner and wrote ░░░░░░░░ ep ed for Op ░░░░░░░░ for CNN com and ░░░░░░░░ said that if you ░░░░░░░░ to ask if you ░░░░░░░░ to somebody who is ░░░░░░░░ nurse and ask them ░░░░░░░░ they re doing they ░░░░░░░░ most likely ░░░░░░░░ we re feeling is ░░░░░░░░ re maxed out and ░░░░░░░░ general population doesn t ░░░░░░░░ how much nurses are ░░░░░░░░ right now and that ░░░░░░░░ to change So I ░░░░░░░░ that part of the ░░░░░░░░ is because there is ░░░░░░░░ disproportionate number of nurses ░░░░░░░░ patients you have to ░░░░░░░░ some people away physically ░░░░░░░░ we can t help ░░░░░░░░ That has got to ░░░░░░░░ one of the hardest ░░░░░░░░ of your job I ░░░░░░░░ think Yes and in ░░░░░░░░ piece I talk about ░░░░░░░░ in settings where I ░░░░░░░░ and there are settings ░░░░░░░░ don t have that ░░░░░░░░ nurses that work in ░░░░░░░░ emergency department We have ░░░░░░░░ some of their voices ░░░░░░░░ well But it is ░░░░░░░░ hard when nurses feel ░░░░░░░░ they can t deliver ░░░░░░░░ quality of care that ░░░░░░░░ want to because there ░░░░░░░░ just so many patients ░░░░░░░░ patient load is very ░░░░░░░░ so we re struggling ░░░░░░░░ meeting both the needs ░░░░░░░░ ourselves and the needs ░░░░░░░░ our patients You also ░░░░░░░░ many nurses are left ░░░░░░░░ silently suffer as they ░░░░░░░░ overwhelming feelings of exhaustion ░░░░░░░░ anxiety and sadness I ░░░░░░░░ that resonates with a ░░░░░░░░ of people A lot ░░░░░░░░ people are feeling that ░░░░░░░░ for nurses you say ░░░░░░░░ s chipping away daily ░░░░░░░░ our mental health One ░░░░░░░░ study publish in jama ░░░░░░░░ found that compared to ░░░░░░░░ general female population female ░░░░░░░░ are at two times ░░░░░░░░ risk of death by ░░░░░░░░ Do you know people ░░░░░░░░ have those feelings and ░░░░░░░░ do you commiserate with ░░░░░░░░ How do you talk ░░░░░░░░ them about that It ░░░░░░░░ a really hard topic ░░░░░░░░ talk about and that ░░░░░░░░ question right how are ░░░░░░░░ doing I think can ░░░░░░░░ up a lot of ░░░░░░░░ conversation We do have ░░░░░░░░ coming out and those ░░░░░░░░ with the research team ░░░░░░░░ out of the University ░░░░░░░░ Michigan predated the pandemic ░░░░░░░░ we don t really ░░░░░░░░ how much the pandemic ░░░░░░░░ actually exacerbated mental health ░░░░░░░░ and deaths by suicide ░░░░░░░░ recently actually on Friday ░░░░░░░░ team that I m ░░░░░░░░ out of New York ░░░░░░░░ published a study that ░░░░░░░░ at the first six ░░░░░░░░ and looked at nurses ░░░░░░░░ health and over a ░░░░░░░░ of over 600 nurses ░░░░░░░░ were really high rates ░░░░░░░░ depressive symptoms high rates ░░░░░░░░ anxiety and insomnia all ░░░░░░░░ that chip away like ░░░░░░░░ wrote at our mental ░░░░░░░░ and ultimately impact the ░░░░░░░░ of care that we ░░░░░░░░ able to give to ░░░░░░░░ You ask the question ░░░░░░░░ me can the U ░░░░░░░░ afford to ignore nurses ░░░░░░░░ What do you need ░░░░░░░░ What would help you ░░░░░░░░ s a great question ░░░░░░░░ to answer the first ░░░░░░░░ we can t afford ░░░░░░░░ keep our voices silent ░░░░░░░░ having more nurses in ░░░░░░░░ arena like this sharing ░░░░░░░░ experiences talking to people ░░░░░░░░ you is wonderful For ░░░░░░░░ viewers listening in and ░░░░░░░░ you are not already ░░░░░░░░ best thing that I ░░░░░░░░ recommend to help nurses ░░░░░░░░ please get vaccinated and ░░░░░░░░ wear a high quality ░░░░░░░░ and right now especially ░░░░░░░░ you can consider
