SCARBOROUGH And and and ░░░░░░░░ next question we re ░░░░░░░░ and again it s ░░░░░░░░ anecdotal probably too early ░░░░░░░░ any meaningful studies who ░░░░░░░░ been put together but ░░░░░░░░ that children are being ░░░░░░░░ impacted by Delta than ░░░░░░░░ There is a story ░░░░░░░░ day of a child ░░░░░░░░ died here or who ░░░░░░░░ there all very tragic ░░░░░░░░ I m wondering though ░░░░░░░░ those tragic stories are ░░░░░░░░ up to a belief ░░░░░░░░ the medical community and ░░░░░░░░ science community that children ░░░░░░░░ more vulnerable to Delta ░░░░░░░░ Alpha GOTTLIEB Yeah it ░░░░░░░░ very hard to determine ░░░░░░░░ And we haven t ░░░░░░░░ evidence in other countries ░░░░░░░░ the Delta variant has ░░░░░░░░ more pathogenic it s ░░░░░░░░ more dangerous in children ░░░░░░░░ adults for that matter ░░░░░░░░ s some suggestion in ░░░░░░░░ CDC slide deck that ░░░░░░░░ given to The Washington ░░░░░░░░ about two weeks ago ░░░░░░░░ CDC thinks it could ░░░░░░░░ pathogenic slightly more pathogenic ░░░░░░░░ terms of how they ░░░░░░░░ it in that slide ░░░░░░░░ but it s hard ░░░░░░░░ tell because we don ░░░░░░░░ know how many people ░░░░░░░░ being infected I suspect ░░░░░░░░ there s far more ░░░░░░░░ happening in the United ░░░░░░░░ than what we re ░░░░░░░░ up We might only ░░░░░░░░ diagnosing one in 10 ░░░░░░░░ one in 20 cases ░░░░░░░░ now And so the ░░░░░░░░ is are the hospitalizations ░░░░░░░░ re seeing the tragic ░░░░░░░░ we re seeing among ░░░░░░░░ representative of the fact ░░░░░░░░ this virus is more ░░░░░░░░ in kids or is ░░░░░░░░ the tip of a ░░░░░░░░ large iceberg and a ░░░░░░░░ of kids are getting ░░░░░░░░ right now a very ░░░░░░░░ percentage are becoming hospitalized ░░░░░░░░ out of proportion to ░░░░░░░░ waves of this infection ░░░░░░░░ what we re missing ░░░░░░░░ we don t understand ░░░░░░░░ just how many kids ░░░░░░░░ being infected I suspect ░░░░░░░░ s the latter I ░░░░░░░░ there s a lot ░░░░░░░░ Delta infection around the ░░░░░░░░ right now than we ░░░░░░░░ picking up A lot ░░░░░░░░ it s happening in ░░░░░░░░ people who aren t ░░░░░░░░ for testing because they ░░░░░░░░ getting mild illness or ░░░░░░░░ s happening in vaccinated ░░░░░░░░ who also are developing ░░░░░░░░ disease and don t ░░░░░░░░ that they have Covid ░░░░░░░░ they ve been vaccinated ░░░░░░░░ to extent that more ░░░░░░░░ the infection is happening ░░░░░░░░ situations where people are ░░░░░░░░ milder symptoms and not ░░░░░░░░ for testing we might ░░░░░░░░ be picking up a ░░░░░░░░ of the infection And ░░░░░░░░ point a lot of ░░░░░░░░ testing that s getting ░░░░░░░░ now is getting done ░░░░░░░░ home with home tests ░░░░░░░░ not getting reported So ░░░░░░░░ re not turn over ░░░░░░░░ the positive cases and ░░░░░░░░ those reported.”
