Dem Gov. Andy Beshear on Election Win: 75% of the Citizens of the United States Will Have a Democratic Governor

‘Democrats flipped governors mansions in Georgia, Iowa, Nevada, Ohio and Texas for the first time since 2010’

RUSH EXCERPT:
BESHEAR: "This has been two years of work. I became chair of the dga right after the elections in 2024, when Democrats were lying on the floor wondering if we could ever get up. We worked hard through 2025 and elected Mikie Sherrill and Abigail Spanberger put the win behind the sails of the Democratic Party. And just look at what election night did. We are going to have 30 democratic governors because we’re going to win Alaska. That one will come in in the coming weeks. 75% of the citizens of the United States will have a democratic governor, 380 plus electoral seats in states that are run by Democrats. And as you mentioned, we made history. We doubled the number of popularly elected African-American governors in our history in one night. And there’s even an extra if you include the Virgin Islands and Stacey Plaskett, who did a great job. And these were great candidates. I mean, David Crowley, Aaron Ford, Keisha Lance Bottoms all worked so hard and earned those governorships. And I’m so proud to have worked alongside them. And the dga was the biggest funder in each and every one of those races. I think what we saw were two major things. Number one, life is too hard on the American people. Trump’s tariffs have made everything we bought last year cost $4,500 more this year. Gas and diesel are at all time highs because of his war of choice in Iran. And people not only wanted to send a message to Donald Trump, but a message to anyone who wouldn’t stand up to Donald Trump that you represent us, and the letter behind your name doesn’t give you an excuse not to stand up to a president hurting American families. But I think the second piece is Americans sent a message that they want decency. No more rule by cruelty. They want people who actually care about their neighbors. Because as I as I campaigned with Rob Sanders, I campaigned with keisha. As I campaigned with Aaron, they all talked about neighbors from that parable, the good samaritan. They talked about how Americans, even if they’re of a different party, they want to like their neighbor, that they’re not the enemy from within, that they’re not disloyal to the country just because they vote differently. And Donald Trump’s push of division on top of division, on top of division, people just had enough. I’m proud of the American people."
