AG Blanche Announces $73 Million Investment into Jacksonville, Fla. As Part of the DOJ’s Model Cities Initiative

‘The plan is to distribute this money over the course of the next 3 years’

EXCERPT:

BLANCHE: "And that’s exactly what we’ve done here in Jacksonville. So, we, after we announced this, we had 47 municipalities around the country actually apply. We whittled that down to 21 semifinalists, and then we interviewed 11 cities, including Jacksonville, ultimately selecting four cities to receive this $300 million. And like I said, $74 million is going to go to the great city of Jacksonville. I want to talk about just for one minute why we selected Jacksonville. It’s because of their compelling whole-of-government approach and vision for targeting violent crime and enhancing public safety across jurisdictional and ideological lines, and because of our belief in their ability to deliver results and follow through on that vision.”
