Van Jones: ‘Donald Trump Got His Wish, People Are Voting as if He‘s on the Ballot’

JONES: “Well, Donald Trump got his wish. People are voting as if he‘s on the ballot. And people who are voting think he‘s terrible. Look, when you say you have the majority of Americans, 61 percent of Americans are saying the president of the United States is putting his personal interests above the country‘s interests, that all this talk about corruption, all this talk about him grifting and grabbing and enriching himself while people can‘t fill up their trucks more than a quarter tank, while hospitals are closing, the gap between — people thought he was going to be some kind of modern-day dictator. He turned into, like, a modern-day Liberace who‘s just doing all kind of weird stuff, and people are suffering. And so, that is really the gap that you‘re seeing. But I think the number, he puts his personal interests above the country‘s interests, 61 percent of people who voted today feel that way. That is a nightmare for the Republicans.”
