Joe Manchin: I Wouldn’t Vote for Anyone Promising to Get Rid of the Filibuster

‘They don’t understand the process of how this country has become what we have over 250 years’

EXCERPT:

MANCHIN: “I always said back when it was in 2021 when Chuck Schumer and my Democrat colleagues pushed to get rid of the filibuster, myself and Sinema became spear catchers. They knew we wouldn't get rid of it. So it was mute. But they were able to kind of feed the far left that we're trying. Well, I think they all know it's a holy grail, a really holy grail to democracy. You get rid of the filibuster, you've taken away the right for the minority to participate. You do that, you don't become the most deliberate body and you don't have anything that has any staying power. It'll flip flop just like the House would. And I'm praying to God that doesn't happen. And everybody that's voting should be looking at that candidate that says, if I get elected, I will get rid of the filibuster. That's somebody I wouldn't vote for. I'd be honest with you. They don't understand the process of how this country has become what we have over 250 years, Joe, you just can't throw it away.”
