Jake Johnson: ‘I Have Called for a Moratorium’ on Data Centers Until Key Conditions Protect Land and Water

‘We need an open process to make sure that there are no NDAs, no secret deals’

RUSH EXCERPT:

JOHNSON: “I mean, it’s night and day. You know, congressman finstad has taken tens of thousands of dollars from data center developers and then turned around and given them tax breaks and basically streamlined their building here in southern Minnesota. I have called for a moratorium until key conditions can be met to protect our land, our water, make sure that these do not represent an exploitation or extraction of our resources. Here in southern Minnesota. We need an open process to make sure that there are no ndas, no secret deals. And we’ve got to make sure that if they’re going to be built, that those increases in utility rates are not pushed on to local taxpayers. It’s not too much to ask.”
