Abdul El-Sayed: Securing Our Border Is Where I Would’ve Differed with the Biden Administration
EXCERPT:
EL-SAYED: “We needed tougher border security. We need to make sure we know who’s coming in. We need to make sure that they’re coming in for reasons that are legal and justifiable, based on our immigration laws, you know, but Customs and Border Protection are different than ICE. ICE is about internal enforcement. I’ve been clear that we need a safe, secure border, but also, the way that ICE has been weaponized against the Constitution itself by this administration is dead wrong and it’s inconsistent with the Constitution of our country. And so, that’s where I deeply differ from the Trump Administration. But yeah, I think we need a safe, secure southern border. We need to know exactly who’s going in, what’s coming in, and making sure that the things we don’t want are not coming in. Similarly, the things that we don’t want coming out are not coming out. You know, you think about the outflow of guns and dangerous weaponry that falls into the hands of cartels in Mexico. We don’t want that either. And so, making sure that we’re securing our border, that’s a place where I would’ve differed with the Biden Administration.”
