NYT’s Thrush: Dems Recruiting Spoiler Candidate in Alaska Was a ‘Dirty Trick’ That ‘Happens a Fair Amount in Politics’

‘The consensus is among legal scholars, current and former officials, is that this attempt to intervene to block, potentially block certification of the election if she wins based on the two Dans has no precedent’

EXCERPT:

THRUSH: “Well, look, I think as you laid out pretty clearly on the in the Alaska case, we have two separate things. We have to do something that we're not as a country apparently capable of doing in 2026. We need to hold two parallel thoughts, right? In Alaska, what the campaign did with Sullivans and my colleagues, wonderful reporting on that is a dirty trick. I've covered two or three races. Some of my earliest journalistic endeavors were in a New York City Council race where two Asian candidates where one was run against another one because they had an identical name. This happens a fair amount in politics. It was something that she needs to be held to account by the electorate. It is something that is likely going to hurt her politically.”
