MS NOW’s Alexander to Jocelyn Benson: Do You Fear that ‘Message of Xenophobia Might Resonate with Some Michigan Voters?’

‘I believe the voters of Michigan will reject xenophobic, divisive rhetoric’

EXCERPT:

ALEXANDER: “Trump has repeatedly attacked El-Sayed. He has baselessly called him a jihadist and a terrorist. He’s gone after his faith and his ethnicity while describing Mike Rogers as as American as apple pie. Do you fear that there is this sort of message of xenophobia that might resonate with some Michigan voters?”
BENSON: “It’s actually divisive rhetoric that I think Michiganders will stand against and reject.”
ALEXANDER: “Does it work?”
BENSON: “Not that I’ve seen. I think we’re about, in Michigan, bringing people together. I believe our purpleness is an asset because it gives us an opportunity to show we can work together across differences to actually get things done.”
