Dem Rep. Smith Slams Hegseth for Running the DoD ‘from a White Christian Nationalist Standpoint’

EXCERPT:

SMITH: "Well, it raises for me the way Pete Hegseth is running the entire Pentagon. And believe me, there are a number of different concerns. Number one, on the top of that list is the war with Iran, how it has spun out of control with no end in sight, and is having devastating consequences and the Pentagon doesn‘t seem to know where to go with it. But also, there‘s all the stories and all the things we‘ve seen about Pete Hegseth really sort of running the department, you know, from a white Christian nationalist standpoint. You know, and to have somebody in there, you know, making these sort of racist, bigoted remarks is completely unacceptable. Look, for a successful military to work, we have to take all comers. We are a diverse nation. We should respect that and bring people in. And if you‘re making these sorts of comments, you‘re moving away from that very important principle. And forget the bigotry of it. It‘s just no way to run the Department of Defense because we need talent. And talent comes in all different races, creeds, and colors."
