ELROD: "I mean, when you’re putting out ads like this, you’re it’s not helping by any stretch. Number one, I think when you look at where the Republican spending is going on right now, especially some of the independent expenditures and some of the key Senate races, for example, they are really doubling down on their base. They are not trying to go after persuadable voters. They are not trying to expand their base. They are trying to get their base to come out to vote. And so when this ad first came out, a number of my friends, democratic strategists and I were trying to figure out what is this actually like? What are they trying to do here? This is such a turnoff to everyone."
