David Jolly: ‘We Are Quietly Building in the Florida Governor’s Race a New Coalition in American Politics’

‘The economy should work for everybody, that we’re going to let the private sector lead’

RUSH EXCERPT:

JOLLY: "Well, listen, it’s a special night to secure the support of President Obama. Coming on the heels of, as you mentioned, president Bill Clinton being in town as well. And, Jonathan, I think what we are quietly building in the Florida governor’s race is a new coalition in American politics. Consider this a former Republican, now a proud Florida Democrat, amplifying the values of the Democratic Party, that the economy should work for everybody, that we’re going to let the private sector lead. But government has to do its part to fill in the gaps, right? Investments in housing, health care, education, and that we’re going to protect everybody’s rights and respect everybody’s dignity, regardless of the color of your skin, where you’re born, who you love or who you worship.”
