Lydia Moynihan Argues that $5,000 Dividend Is Not a Handout — It’s Cheaper than Medicare-for-All

MOYNIHAN: “And it’s a 5,000 check for all. So, Democrats have no leg to stand on that they’re criticizing Trump for bribing people, saying, ‘I’m going to do all of these things, give you free things,’ when that’s their entire platform. Since FDR, their entire platform every single election is, ‘Vote for me and I give you free things.’”

PHILLIP: “But isn’t that what you — isn’t that what Republicans — but isn’t that what Republicans are supposed to be running against? I mean, aren’t Republicans running against giving handouts to people for free?”

MOYNIHAN: “It’s not a handout. But you know what’s funny? It’s a lot cheaper — “

PHILLIP: “I mean, why is it not a handout?”

MOYNIHAN: It’s a lot cheaper than Medicare-for-all.”

NELLIS: “Listen, hold on, Abby. It’s not a handout when the Republicans do it. But if the Democrats have any idea, it’s definitely a handout.”

MOYNIHAN: “All of those things are going to cost $200 trillion over the next 10 years.”
