David Frum: Trump ‘Finds it Intolerable Whenever Any Woman Accuses Any Man of Wrongdoing’
EXCERPT:
FRUM: "Well, first, President Trump is not an entirely strategic actor. He's driven by his neuroses, his needs, his psychological dramas. He finds it intolerable whenever any woman accuses any man of wrongdoing. He is instinctively — he regards it as impertinent, he regards it as offensive, he regards it as a criticism of him. I don't know why he would regard any woman criticizing some other abuser as a criticism of him, but he takes it very personally. So, first, he has a genuine emotional rage that some — that this woman would dare say anything about the abuse that had come to her. But he does have a strategy, and you can watch him executing it and not working. Donald Trump, if you watch that clip, you saw what he said was, 'I don't know what she said, but I know it was bad.' He does this move where first he's vague, he's foggy, he doesn't reiterate exactly, but he leaves behind a general impression, he reaffirms the badness of the thing that he doesn't have any details about. And in many cases over the past decade, it's worked for him. And the theme of this election year has been old Trump tricks aren't working.”
