Scott Jennings: The Fact that Mike Rogers Is in a Tight Race and in a ‘Position to Possibly Win,’ It Shows the ‘Strength’ of What He’s Doing

‘I think they‘ve done it based on coalition building with nontraditional constituencies’

EXCERPT:

JENNINGS: “I think the fact that he is in a tight race and in a position to possibly win shows the strength of what Mike Rogers is doing, and I think they‘ve done it based on coalition-building with nontraditional constituencies. Jewish voters in Michigan are very, very uneasy with Abdul El-Sayed. And I think this issue with African American voters around Detroit having real questions about El-Sayed, and Mike Rogers paying a lot of attention to them, featuring African American voters in his advertising, I mean, he‘s the expert on Michigan, but I think — I think it has made a difference and I think it‘s got the Democrats back on their heels a little bit. So, it‘s a close race, I don‘t know who‘s going to win. But when you consider the environment, the fact that it's a blue state and Rogers might be in a position to win, I think it shows they've run a pretty good race."
