HUD Sec. Turner: We Ended Biden-Era Energy Code that Added Up to $30,000 to Homes

TURNER: “There was a final determination in 2021 during the Biden administration, and it was the International Energy Conservation Code, the IECC. And what this did was add up to $30,000 on the cost to build a single-family project. It was a burdensome, bureaucratic, heavyweight rule, if you will, that we rescinded and took down to reduce the cost of building homes. Because as you reduce the cost, you raise the supply, and that then is transferred to the constituency, which is the American people.”
