Jessica Tarlov: The Way the Republicans Are Playing the Midterms Indicate that They’re ‘Freaked Out’

‘Why should the sitting Republican president have to be in Kansas bailing Roger Marshall?’

EXCERPT:

TARLOV: "Well, because they’re in trouble, because he’s in a toss-up race in Kansas. Texas should not be close. As you know, what do you say, a lazy eye and a whiff of corruption. Turns out people aren’t that excited about a candidate like that. And the way that Republicans are playing indicate that they’re freaked out today. That ad, the Vivek ad in in Ohio about Amy Acton, using her mother who she’s been estranged from since she was 12 years old because she was neglected and raped by her stepfather, having that woman direct to camera talking about how Amy Acton is a liar is an act of desperation and is disgusting, and you’re seeing revulsion on both sides to using that, because guess what? You do a little bit of digging and it turns out that Amy Acton’s story and her brother’s story backing her up is the truth and that this woman is actually the liar and shouldn’t be trotted out there. So, Vivek, not a smart move. Ken Paxton, I already talked about lazy eye and whiff of corruption, but he is running national ads. Why should people in Vermont have to see Ken Paxton’s face except that he is in trouble?"
