HHS Sec. Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: Right Now All Peptides Are Illegal

KENNEDY JR.: “Well, right now, most — virtually all peptides are illegal, which means that Americans are still buying them. They’re buying between $1.5 billion and $3 billion worth of peptides a year. They’re buying them all off the gray market or black market. So, they’re coming from Chinese firms mainly, some in India, and then a few scattered one in other countries. But there is no FDA inspection. We have no idea what they’re getting, there’s no way for them to know what they’re getting. And there’s been a lot of bad reports about adulterants and, you know, actually products that have no active ingredient in them. And so, our objective was, Americans are going to be buying these anyway. Our objective was to make sure that there’s a regulated marketplace so that what they’re getting is what they claim to be that is safe, that the factories are inspected.”
