Jon Ossoff: Keisha Lance Bottoms Has to Win with Me ‘in Order for Us to End this Health Care Emergency’
RUSH EXCERPT:
OSSOFF: “My team and mayor bottoms team are working very closely together. In fact, I spoke personally with Keisha just about two hours ago, and we are working together to mount the largest get out the vote effort in our state’s history. You know, when you think about the damage that Donald Trump’s health care cuts have done in Georgia, doubling health insurance premiums for more than a million Georgians, throwing hundreds of thousands off of their health insurance altogether, gutting Medicaid, defunding hospitals and nursing homes. All of that is against the backdrop of an underlying health emergency in Georgia, which is a function of our state government’s refusal to expand Medicaid. If you are born today in the state of Georgia, your life expectancy is shorter than if you’re born today. In Lebanon, we have lost 21 hospitals in 20 years. We have sky high maternal mortality. And in order for us to end this health care emergency, we’ve got to elect Keisha Lance Bottoms, the next governor of Georgia. And we have to expand Medicaid in our state. And both of these races are going to be extremely close down the stretch. You said it at the top of your question. Complacency and overconfidence are the greatest risks that we face over these next two weeks. We have to lock in and stay focused and win these races. Remember that Donald Trump’s 2020 election conspiracy theories and his shenanigans since have been focused on Georgia, the Fulton County ballot raid. We’ve got to get out the vote like never before. We’ve got to defend voting rights in Georgia. We’ve got to do everything we have to do to win both of these races. And again, folks who want to take.”
