Rahm Emanuel: I’ve Had Disagreements with Dem Socialists, but ‘You Have to Appreciate That Anger and Frustration at a Failed System’

‘You have to focus where the electoral majority is created’

EXCERPT:

EMANUEL: “And finally, while I‘ve had my disagreements with DSA, you got to appreciate the angst and the anger and the frustration that‘s driving people frustrated that Tuesday will never be better than Monday. This next year will never be better than this year. And it has to do with a disappearing ability to achieve the middle-class life for the American people. And that is a real angst out there. And everybody‘s talking about how yesterday is the best America has to offer. And you got to, once you take away hope and you only offer despair, people get angry. It shouldn‘t be that hard. The moment the American dream became unaffordable is exactly when our democracy became unstable. So, restore the American dream, restore the middle class, and you‘re going to have a thriving ability. But if you don‘t, people are going to go to extremes from Donald Trump to something else. And you have to appreciate that anger and frustration at a failed system.”
