Fmr. Pence Aide: ‘I Feel Terrible for Zelenskyy and Our European Allies’ Following Trump’s Announcement of Putin-Xi Summit
EXCERPT:
TROYE: “Look, I've worked in national security for over 20 years under both Democratic and Republican administrations. I never, ever would have thought that the United States would side on the side of the aggressor, which is Vladimir Putin. And I would say this, by doing the removal of the sanctions with Russia and everything, all of these steps that Trump has done actually just shows weakness. We are the weakest link here. And Putin preys on that. That's what he wants. He's looking at this. And when he's seeing this, he knows that he's got the upper hand. And I think it's just horrifying for the legacy that we're leaving here as a United States, for the world, that we are enabling this moment when we know what is at stake with Ukraine. And I feel terrible for Zelenskyy and also the rest of our allies who are watching this saying, 'I can't believe the U.S. is doing this right now.'”
