Lifelong Michigan Democrat Sheriff Exits Party: Party Leaders Are Happy that I’m Gone Because They Said They’d Prefer ‘to Have a Real Democrat’

EXCERPT:

FEDERSPIEL: “Well, some of them just kind of walked by me and politely looked the other way. Others I haven't heard from. And the party leaders, I think, are happy that I'm gone because they said they prefer to have a real Democrat. And quite honestly, you know, my pro-life views, my views on people serving their full sentences, I don't believe people should be released early from prison. If they've been convicted by a jury of their peers, I believe they should do the time if they're willing to do the crime.”
