Abdul El-Sayed As He Runs for Office in Michigan: ‘I Didn’t Get Into This To Defend My Name’
‘They deserve so much better than to be exploited by a billionaire from New York or a millionaire from Florida’
RUSH EXCERPT:
EL-SAYED: “We shouldn’t be fighting, or the tariff war with your home country in Canada. None of this makes any sense. And so, look, I didn’t get into this to defend my name. I love my name. I’m proud of my name. I’m grateful for my name. It means servant leader for folks who care to actually understand. But the reality of this is that this is a distraction and they’re trying to distract people. I didn’t take a bet on me, though. When I decided to run for office, I took a bet on Michigan. Michiganders are open minded. They’re big hearted, they’re earnest, and they’re gritty, and they deserve so much better than to be exploited by a billionaire from New York or a millionaire from Florida."
