Stacey Abrams: ‘Voter Suppression Isn’t an Incident, It’s a Pattern’; ‘It’s a Strategy’
RUSH EXCERPT:
ABRAMS: “It’s important for us to recognize that voter suppression isn’t an incident. It’s a pattern. It’s a strategy. And it’s something I’ve been talking about since 2018. And the first responsibility is to acknowledge and to call out the systemic changes being made that undermine the salience of people’s votes. Basically, they don’t want to hear from you, so they’re going to do what they can to stop you from showing up. Stop. They’re going to stop you from getting on the rolls, from having your ballot cast and from getting that ballot counted. That’s been a persistent and perennial strategy for the last 20 years of this Republican Party. And I want to be really clear that while Trump may be the figurehead, he is not the architect. They have borrowed this from Brian Kemp, from Ron DeSantis, from Abbott.”
