ABC Chicago: Man on Electronic Monitoring Fatally Stabbed Worker at CTA Stop
EXCERPT:
CAUGUIRAN: “Prosecutors say multiple people witnessed the attack and it was captured on surveillance video. Prosecutors also argued Campbell was on electronic monitoring at the time of the attack. A detail now raising broader questions about the monitoring system. Cook County State's Attorney Eileen Burke and ATU Local 308 President Pennie McCoach issued a joint statement calling out what they described as failures in our electronic monitoring system and a lack of oversight in this case, saying in part, quote, 'On at least four occasions prior to the murder, prosecutors filed to violate the defendant's probation because of repeated curfew violations, including multiple periods when he was out of compliance for hours at a time.' Union leaders doubling down on their commitment to the cause and for stronger worker protections."
