El-Sayed on His Past Criticism of Obama: We Push Differently Because We Learned from What He’s Done
RUSH EXCERPT:
EL-SAYED: "Look, anybody who — I have had really great mentors in my life and the best thing about those mentors they let you write up. I think about that, you read dreams from my father, I see echoes of somebody who’s frustrated and wants things to be better. At the same time, I look at how he’s led and for me what that’s 2012 now, it’s 2026, 14 years on, you grow up and you appreciate how hard change is. That’s not to say there aren’t things that we’re going to push on in different ways than his administration led, but it is to say where we push differently it’s because we learned from what he’s done and because we stand on the shoulders of giants. I got to say, I’m so grateful to have been a young man in my 20s with Barack Obama as president. I would have never seen myself running for office. I told at my graduation, former President Clinton, no world in which I could run for office. I told him, people like me, with names like mine, I can’t. When I saw Obama run and win the presidency, he did that, I’m grateful to build on that."
