Trump: ‘We Resurrected Christopher Columbus,’ After Years of Controversy Surrounding His Legacy

TRANSCRIPT:

TRUMP: “Christopher Columbus changed the future of humanity forever, and in this administration we know that Christopher Columbus is to us, he’s a hero. He’s a hero. I’ve — I say proudly. Somebody would say, oh, that’s a terrible thing. You know, the fake news, look at all of them back there. They’ll say, but I feel that I, with some of the people in this room, we resurrected Christopher Columbus. Christopher Columbus — I mean, you couldn’t even say his name. If you said his name, they’D start writing stories about you like you’re some kind of an evil — now we’re very proud and we have a statue of Christopher Columbus in front of one of the most important buildings in Washington.”
