MULLIN: “We had both ends of the block blocked off that, you know, they talked about the streets being wide open. That isn’t accurate. We had — we had worked our best to try to get as many people away before we actually went towards the individual. Now, it’s a public street, so there were some people on the street, but we did our best to de-escalate it. He’s the one that escalated it. But, you know, this should have never happened if NYPD was allowed to keep him in custody because of the sanctuary politicians that run New York City now. They released him back on the streets and this is what took place.”
