Sen. Tillis: ‘I Resonate More with Unaffiliated Voters’; ‘I‘ve Always Been Characterized as a Soft Republican’
EXCERPT:
TILLIS: “Well, you know, who‘s going to sit here and not say they think they were? I think that I would have a better opportunity because I resonate more with unaffiliated voters. I‘ve always been, you know, characterized as a soft Republican. Well, go take a look at my Second Amendment, pro-life, limited government, cut taxes, anti-regulations record and see if that bears out in reality. It‘s about tone and it‘s about respect. And I believe that Michael Whatley needs to assume that the president and Republicans can get out the MAGA base, and he needs to be his own man and speak to the unaffiliated voters, exactly the way that I did. We were supposedly down 10 points. We won by 1.7. It’s not out of reach for Whatley, but he’s got a lot of work to do.”
