Thom Tillis: Trump Needs to Spot Every Landing for the Next 28 Days — We Can’t Be Explaining Offhanded Comments
EXCERPT:
TILLIS: "Well, number one, we‘re picking an issue where the country is almost evenly divided. Also, the thing that I look at is I wonder how that issue polls in the battleground states that we need to win. That‘s immediately what I think about. And look, I mean, everybody — everybody may say, well, you know, it‘s an 80% issue nationwide. I don‘t care about nationwide. What I care about is in the states that we must win to keep a majority. That‘s what I‘m saying. The president needs to spot every landing for the next 28 days. We can‘t be spending time explaining offhanded comment. We need to be spending time talking about tax cuts that made sense and that were made permanent. We need to talk about the economy that was on steroids when Covid hit us, and thank God that we made that a priority in 2017. We need to talk about the fact that the border is effectively shut down after Biden left it open for four years and 4 million people. Let‘s talk about those successes. Pivot back to them. The one thing you learn in politics, you need to talk about your successes over and over and over again. Nothing new. The things that the American people are interested in. I think we‘re easily distracted by red herrings. That is not the way to spot the landings over the next 28 days."
