Scott Jennings: Trump Can Help Motivate the ‘Traditional Republicans’ to Turn out for the Midterms
EXCERPT:
JENNINGS: "It‘s a valid strategy question. My view is, if you hate Donald Trump and you‘ve hated him for 10 years and you‘re going to turn out because of that, you‘re not open to persuasion. Where he helps is with Republican turnout. There are voters who love Donald Trump, they believe in Donald Trump, they want to see his agenda enacted. They‘re worried that Democrats in Congress could block that if they get the majority, and they don‘t have a high propensity of turning out in every election. He can definitely help you with that. He also needs to talk to all of his base. You know, there‘s two kinds of Republicans. There‘s the pure MAGA. They love Trump. And then there‘s, you know, a more traditional kind of Republican. They like him sometimes, and sometimes he makes them cringe. They‘re a little softer right now, and he needs to motivate them, too, to keep the team together. So, yeah, look, I think the Democrats have some energy out there. Who gives energy to Republicans? It‘s typically President Trump."
