Fox News: Trump Approves Military Firing Squad Execution for Fort Hood Shooter Nidal Hasan

‘The Obama era Pentagon and army treated Fort Hood as “workplace violence” rather than recognizing it as a terrorist attack, the designation that victims and lawmakers fiercely criticized’

EXCERPT:

TOMLINSON: "Former army major Nidal Hasan was an army psychiatrist when he opened fire inside a processing center for soldiers about to deploy to Iraq or Afghanistan from Forth Hood in Texas on November 5, 2009. The Pentagon spokesman posting: 'Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has recommended, and President Donald J. Trump has approved, death by U.S. Army firing squad for convicted terrorist Nidal Malik Hasan, the jihadist who opened fire on unarmed American soldiers at Forth Hood in 2009. He killed 13 people and wounded 32 others while shouting 'Allahu Akbar' during the attack.' Among those killed was private first class Francesca Velez, a Chicago native who was pregnant. Witnesses testified that after she was shot, Velez cried out, 'My baby, my baby!' Hasan was eventually convicted of 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder and sentenced to death. But there was controversy at the time over how the government initially characterized the attack. The Obama era pentagon and army treated Fort Hood as 'workplace violence' rather than recognizing it as a terrorist attack, the designation that victims and lawmakers fiercely criticized. There was evidence Hasan had communicated with an al Qaeda-linked cleric Anwar al-Awlaki before the attack. In 2015, the army approved Purple Hearts for those killed and wounded after Congress changed the eligibility rules. And now, more than 16 years after the massacre, Hasan is set to become the first U.S. military prisoner executed since 1961. The Army Secretary will set the time and place of the execution, Bill."
